Georgian College - Barrie

Founded in 1967 during the inception of the College System of Ontario, Georgian College is the first and only institute in Canada to be honoured as an Ashoka Changemaker College. Given its 81% acceptance rate, this institute follows a lightly selective admission policy. Encompassing an area of 21,000 square kilometres, this institute has seven campuses in several locations in Ontario. Out of these, Georgian College Barrie campus is the largest one. The approximate travel time to Toronto from the place is 1 hour. All the campus buildings generate a total area of roughly one million square feet with 111.5 acres of property. This campus features an Art Gallery, a fitness centre with a gymnasium and climbing wall, six public health and wellness clinics, Henry Bernick Entrepreneurship Centre, Changemaker Space, Indigenous Resource Centre, innovation labs, nursing simulation labs, etc. There are several full-time program areas where students can opt to pursue their studies at this institute. These include Business and Management, Community Safety, Automotive Business, Computer Studies, Design and Visual Arts, Hospitality, Tourism and Recreation, etc. In its part-time courses, Georgian College offers diplomas, degrees and certificates. There are over 200 personal and professional development courses available throughout the year. And these courses are delivered during the daytime, evening, and weekend. Besides these, students can also attend these courses through the online route. Other pathways are available for students, including corporate training, academic and career preparation, apprenticeship and pre-apprenticeship, etc.
