University of Massachusetts Boston (UMass Boston) is a public university in Boston. The institution was established in 1964. It is the second university in the UMass system and was initially known as Boston State College. In 1982, it was incorporated into UMass Boston by eliminating duplicate programs. UMass Boston offers courses on 207 undergraduate, graduate, and certificate programs. The programs are provided through 8 schools and colleges and have more than 50 interdisciplinary research centers. In 2020, approximately 4000 students graduated from UMass Boston.
