Shandong Normal University

Shandong Normal University (SDNU) is a key comprehensive university in Shandong Province and one of the earliest universities established after the foundation of the People's Republic of China. Founded on October 29, 1950, as Shandong Normal College, it was renamed to Shandong Normal University in August 1981. The university is located in the historical and cultural city of Jinan, the capital of Shandong Province, which is known as the "City of Springs" and recognized as a famous historical and cultural city. SDNU is situated in the downtown cultural district near Qianfo Hill, providing students with a mature peripheral environment, rich campus culture, and strong academic atmosphere.

The university has developed into a comprehensive and advanced normal university with various subjects and majors, a complete degree system, and abundant teaching talents over its more than 70-year history. SDNU operates two campuses—the Main Campus and the West Campus (also referred to as Changqing Campus)—covering approximately 600 acres with a total area of about 4,000 mu (2,587,800 square meters) and building area of 1,206,600 square meters. The institution has provided society with 180,000 qualified talents and maintains strong international connections, having established four Confucius Institutes and two Confucius Classrooms in Korea, Kenya, the United States, and Brazil. SDNU began admitting international students in 1983 and is among the first group of universities approved by the Ministry of Education to enroll international students supported by Chinese Government Scholarship.
